PRESS RELEASE: Fostering Youth’s Interest in Energy Development Key to Region’s Energy Future
April 2, 2012. Oneonta, NY. Hometown Energy Group (HEG) recognizes the importance of fostering our youth’s interest in energy development and sustainability. The youth are key to developing future solutions to our energy needs, resultantly, a special invitation is being extended to High School students. To further advance the youth’s interest, the group is setting up a Student Attendance Scholarship to allow a selected number of students to attend the forum at no cost. To enter into the drawing for the scholarships, students are required to submit a 200 word essay on Wind Energy by April 12th. The selected essay writers will each receive two complimentary registrations for the Wind Forum and their essays will be featured in the event program. The Wind Energy information session has been organized to examine issues related to wind power development in our region and is planned for April 17th, 2012 in Oneonta. The day long forum sponsored by Hometown Energy Group and Ridgeline Energy will be held at the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta. The Wind Forum is now open to the general public but advance registration is required. There is a $25 fee to register for the event. The forum will feature a series of presentations by wind power experts from both the private and public sector covering a variety of topics related to the development of renewable and wind resources. The last presentation of the day will consist of a panel discussion. The panel will be comprised of wind development experts and invited panelists who will offer a local perspective on wind development. This portion will be moderated by one of the guest speakers, Trudy Forsyth, a small wind energy expert. It is anticipated that attendees will discuss the applicability and future of wind energy development regionally.

Ya know after the last four years of watching land forclosures of friends and seeing kids not furthering there education trapped in a small town and those that can leave, leave.... The last thing that will be on my land is WIND OR SOLAR!
why? It would take four pages so I'll sum up my basic now throttled back feeling!
YOU BASTARDS have the audacity to ask landowners to consider Solar and Wind! You have done nothing but insult us, take our land, challenge our pride, take from our childrens plate, push our youth out of this state, force us to sell our land,have if foreclosed upon! Now you want our land to be clear cut for solar?
For 50 Acre subsidized farms with back to back side to side plastic? UN FIGGIN BELIEVABLE!
I will be the first and thousands of landowners will follow just for friggin spite. We will not forget!
